About PawSmart
PawSmart exists to make life easier for new dog owners. Bringing home a dog means dozens of buying decisions — crate, food, bed, insurance, gear, training — often made at once, under pressure, and usually with a puppy already chewing something it shouldn’t. Meanwhile the internet is full of thin, copy-paste “reviews” written to sell rather than to help. We started PawSmart to be the opposite of that.
Who’s behind PawSmart
PawSmart was founded and is edited by Adrian Furletti, a lifelong dog owner who got tired of wading through low-effort listicles while trying to make real decisions for a real dog. Adrian researches and edits every guide on the site. We’re a small, independent publication — not a faceless content farm — and we’d rather cover a topic properly than churn out a page a day.
How we research our content
Every PawSmart guide is built from primary sources: manufacturer specifications and safety documentation, published standards, guidance from veterinarians and professional trainers, and the pattern that emerges across thousands of verified owner reviews. For health and behavior topics we lean on widely accepted, vet-informed best practice from bodies like the American Kennel Club, the ASPCA, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. We update guides as products change and advice evolves, and we’re transparent about what’s settled and what’s still debated. Full detail is on our Editorial Standards page.
How we make money — and how we don’t
PawSmart is free to read. We earn through display advertising and affiliate commissions: when you buy through some of our links, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That’s it. We don’t accept payment for a place on a list, we don’t let advertisers dictate our recommendations, and our picks are the same whether or not a brand runs an affiliate program. When the cheaper option is the smarter one, we say so — and when something isn’t worth buying at all, we say that too.
